he noticed a slight enlargement in the left axilla, but as it caused no inconvenience, lie thought no inoreabout it. About a fortnight ago it began to swell very rapidly without any apparent cause, and in the course of a week became as large as an orange. This sudden increase in the size of the tumour caused great anxiety in the family, and the child was brought to the dispensary for out-door relief. Ordered tincture ferri perchloric!, internally and Goulard's lotion externally. As this treatment continued for about a week brought no amelioration of symptoms, it was decided to open the tumour by free incision. Symptoms before operation.?The tumour was of the size of an orange and fluctuating. It occupied the axillary space between the two folds at the lower part and on the ribs. The skin covering it looked shiny and tense, and several livid spots were seen on its surface. No acute pain was complained of in or around it except that caused by tension. On exploration by
